We have changed the thumbnail algorithm on the main site. There are a few main reasons for this. Many thumbnails being generated were very large and slowing the pages down. We also changed some compression options to relieve some of the server load.
We are now converting bmp's and tif's to jpg's. These are uncompressed filetypes and not appropriate for the web, so we convert them for you.

One of our master filesystems had a disk fail. We do have raid so no data is lost, however it was slowing things down to the point where everyone was effected.
We have taken the albums on this volume offline to speed things up. It should be finished within an hour.
