Photobucketeers Volunteer! - Guest Post by Julie Blaustein
The mission of SF Connect is to mobilize residents and sectors for a stronger San Francisco. SF Connect is about engaged residents volunteering their talent and time for the City as well as innovative partnerships between the private, public, and social (nonprofit) sectors. Initiatives include Project Homeless, Green Connect, Youth and Families, and Tech Connect.
I have always enjoyed volunteering and supporting the community so I was excited when asked to speak on behalf of Photobucket for SFConnect's event at Self Help for the Elderly. Self-Help caters to a predominantly Cantonese speaking community and all presenters worked with a translator to speak about our companies and technologies.

NetGearās Skype demonstrated how one can call Hong Kong for two cents a minute. Google shared where one can find translation tools online. City College gave a brief overview on citizenship classes that they offer. ReliaTech discussed affordable options for purchasing laptops (As low as $150). For Photobucket, I guided the audience (with a translator) through the registration process and showed them how to upload their photos from their cameras to the web. Many of the attendees look forward to taking and sharing photos of their families and friends and were happy to learn about Photobucket's Free service. There was so much interest from the attendees that I was asked to present an in depth workshop in a classroom setting for their organization. I'm definitely looking forward to it. Its great to see people helping out the elderly, Especially with computers. My site http://www.sdphotoforum.com could gain alot of knowledge from our elders but they dont know anything about computers these days and are intimidated by them.
