Photobucket Search Results get more options!

Sharing what you find on Photobucket just got a little bit easier! Check out how our changes make it  fast and convenient to share your fun finds in images and videos that are in our huge public library.

Search for anything and click on the thumbnail of your select search result.
At the full or detail view of that media, you're given four different link options for sharing it with the world.

The HTML Tag (for embedding on webpages, blogposts, or profile pages) and the IMG Code (for forums and message boards) stay the same but we've made some minor tweaks on the link options.

Share URL: This is a new link option which lets you share the Photobucket webpage for a specific image or video.

URL Link:  This is the link option for the image only and best used when making layouts or backgrounds for websites or profile pages.

Important Photobucket Announcement

Dear Photobucket Friends:

As you may have already heard, today Photobucket announced that it has accepted an offer to be acquired by Fox Interactive Media (FIM), a division of News Corporation. This is a really big piece of news for us at Photobucket.

First and foremost, we expect nothing to change in our day-to-day operations. After the transaction is closed and finalized, the plan is to operate Photobucket as an independent, standalone company within FIM.

We plan to continue developing innovative tools that enhance self-expression and give you the best media sharing, linking and searching experience on the Web. Partnering with FIM will give us added resources and support to deliver on this vision, as well as the ability to offer new features for you -- our most important audience.

If you have questions or just want to drop us a line, write a comment here on the blog, or email us at pbsupport@photobucket.com. We read all your emails and messages. Keep them coming. And most importantly, keep all the great ideas coming.

I thank you for your support, and for all the ways you teach us what is truly meaningful about the Photobucket experience. We are extremely excited about Photobucket’s future, and look forward to continuing to bring you the very best personal media site in the world.

Regards,
Alex Welch, CEO, co-founder, Photobucket, Inc.

Mandy Moore's Performance at Vintage High!

Yesterday morning, a few members of the Photobucket team had an extraordinary opportunity to meet and see Mandy Moore perform live at Napa Valley's Vintage High.

Mandy gave an exciting, energy packed, and awesome performance before a packed audience of the graduating class of 2007.

And gave some personal thanks and appreciation to Nikelle Riggs who created the winning remix with students and friends from her school.

Mandy also met with a few of the Photobucket team who were able to drive up for the event and autograph a Photobucket sign for us!

And for those Photobucket team members that couldn't be there, Mandy expressed her personal thanks as well.

Thanks Mandy! We totally love you!

Photobucket users go pub crawling!

We’ve partnered with the Internet’s first online pub, CherryTAP.  Not only will users be able to plug in images, videos, or slideshows into their profiles on CherryTAP, they can also import these items directly into their Cherry Stash (a visual library of bookmarks) to share with the community:

With the launch of the Internet’s first Happy Hour in February of this year, CherryTAP is quickly becoming a popular destination for the 18 and over crowd with almost 900,000 members to date.

Why yes! We have RSS!

Exciting announcement for those of you who are news, blog, podcast, and media junkies.  Photobucket now supports RSS. RSS feeds are available for by username, individual public albums, by search result, or for recent uploads of images, videos, and remixes.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.  It's an internet standard or format that lets folks get updated content - whether it's news, blogposts, or updated videos and images - to their inbox or newsreader. Check out this video that explains what RSS is in plain English.

You can collect and read your RSS feeds or subscriptions from your web browser (Flock, Safari,Firefox, IE7), website service (MyYahoo, Google Newsreader, Bloglines.com, etc) or software (Vienna, Outlook, Feeddemon) on your computer. Up to 20 thumbnails of feed results will show up with each update.

If you're using Firefox, Flock, or IE7 you'll see that RSS icon in your web address bar. If you're browsing public albums, you'll note the RSS icon in the lower left corner of the album page.

Here are some examples of what the RSS feed links should look like.

RSS Feed for Photobucket Username - "PBHomepage"

http://feed0006.photobucket.com/albums/0006/pbhomepage/account.rss

Be sure you're on the username's account page to get their RSS feed.  When given the option of "album feed" vs "user feed", select the "user feed" option.  This is a great option for people to feed into their Facebook profile or blogs. Albums must be public for this to work.

RSS Feed for Photobucket "PBHomepage"s individual album "Smiles"

http://feed0006.photobucket.com/albums/0006/pbhomepage/smile/feed.rss

Select the "album feed" option for a top-level album or sub album for a public account. RSS feeds are not produced for private accounts or albums.

RSS Feed for an Image Search - term "graffiti"
http://feed.photobucket.com/images/graffiti/feed.rss

Search for anything at Photobucket and you can retrieve an RSS feed for that search.

RSS Feed for Videos from the search term "puppies"
http://feed.photobucket.com/videos/puppies/feed.rss

You can specify if you'd like your search to be images or videos.

RSS Feed for Recent Video uploads
http://feed.photobucket.com/recent/videos/feed.rss

Or to view the latest public uploads at Photobucket, you can simply subscribe to Recent Images or Recent Videos.  Recent uploads can be found when you click on "Find Stuff."

New Look Photobucket albums!

New look Photobucket albums released today -- re-designed to help you get things done quickly, and incorporating many great ideas you have given us. It may take a few minutes to get used to the new layout, but once you do, we are sure you'll love it as much as we do.

New Navigation Bar

Look at the top of your album to find the "Action navigation bar." The choices direct you to create slideshows, remixes, and avatars in your account, which you can then share with your friends or publish to your profile or blog.

View by Media Type

You can now view your media by "type" with the "Media Filter Bar" right above the contents of your album.  Filter by images, videos, remixes, or slideshows.

New Look Thumbnails in Albums

Slideshows and remixes have a little label that makes them easy to spot. Clicking on a slideshow or remix thumbnail takes you directly to the edit area for that media type.

Tell us what you think!

Let us know what you think of these latest updates by dropping us a line in the comments or an email to pbfeedback@photobucket.com.   All problems or support questions should go to the Forums or support.

As always, thanks for all the great support and feedback you give us. We really listen to it all.

Photobucket adding some Snap!

Want to add some snap to your blog or website that shows off your Photobucket album in a fun new way? Check out our latest partnership with Snap that makes it easier than ever to preview your media to your site visitors.

Simply adding a small snip of Javascript to your site makes links to your photos and graphics come alive.

What used to be an ordinary link now has a nifty thumbnail "SnapShot" that lets people browse through your Photobucket album.

Here's an shot of how it works.

But it's really best to see it in action.

(mouse over the link to see how it works!)

For more details, read our full press release.
