DENVER, June 19, 2007 – Photobucket, the world’s largest personal media site, today announced that CEO and co-founder, Alex Welch, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2007 Award in the Emerging category in the Rocky Mountain Region. According to Ernst & Young, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. Founded in 2003, Photobucket is the Web's most popular creative hub, with more than 44 million users linking billions of personal photos, graphics, slideshows and videos daily to hundreds of thousands of web sites. “It’s an honor to be named winner of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award,” said Alex Welch, CEO and co-founder of Photobucket. “I’d like to thank my co-founder, Darren Crystal, the entire staff at Photobucket and the 44 million users who have helped create the very best personal media site in the world.”
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program celebrates its 21st anniversary this year and continues to honor entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
“Ernst & Young is honored to recognize extraordinary business leaders, such as Alex Welch, and the companies they have built,” said Jim Wilson, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year program director for the Rocky Mountain Region.
As a Rocky Mountain Region award winner, Alex is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2007 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 17, 2007.
