Here's a tagged image posted from Photobucket

Here's what a tagged photo looks like when it's embedded on a blog page.  You can use our new "Embed code - to embed with tags" option -- it will show up with tagged images -- to copy the embed code that includes your tags.

Look for the code here next to the photo in your album:

Then, when you embed your tagged into onto your blog, or social network profile, it will show up with tags embedded.

See what a tagged image looks like here. Click on the photo below to see how tags work.

Click on the Golden Gate Bridge part of the photo to see how embedded links work.

Roll over the faces to see names. Click on links below the image to see how tags link to Photobucket.

New "Related Searches" Feature on Photobucket

Now when you find stuff on Photobucket, you have some new choices to find even more that's related.  There are new choices on the right side of the screen that let you find related images, more images from the user who uploaded the image you're looking and, related videos.

For example, check out this screenshot of a search for "gnomes" on Photobucket. When you click on any image you like on Photobucket, you go to the 'full view.' Now you can see an option to look at "related" gnome images; more images from the user who uploaded the image you liked; and, finally, videos that are tagged 'gnomes.'

Photobucket visitors and members conduct millions of searches a day on Photobucket. We hope this new feature will make searching even better.

Yippee! A Celebrity Chick Winner

Remember the Celebrity Chick Look a Like contest we ran last month? Well, we finally reached and picked the winner. And she is absolutely wonderful! Laura Pasqualoni. She is the Mariah Carey look-a-like. She submitted more than one photo of herself, and I know you'll agree the Ludacris and Chingy team at DisturbingthaPeace made a great choice.

Thanks, Laura. Your "DTP Prize Pack" is on its way. And thanks to everyone who entered. What an utterly awesome set of entries. At Photobucket, this was our favorite contest by far.

Check out this remix of just a few of our favorites, and our winner. There were so many great ones -- we wish we could have featured every one of you.

Check them all our at http://celebritychick.photobucket.com.

Release of major new Tagging feature on Photobucket

We're pretty excited about this.  Starting today, you can "tag" any photo on Photobucket.

What's a tag?

It's a word, or group of words, that describes whatever is in your photo. But isn't that just a title? Well, could be, but this goes further:

  • You can drag a region of any photo and 'tag' it -- so someone's face, or something in a photo
  • You can assign a link to any tag -- so you could link someone's face to their Myspace or Facebook profile
  • You can email a friend when they, or something they like, has been tagged in a photo
  • Finally, you can post a tagged photo outside Photobucket, and the tags and links go along with it, along with the embedded links you've made

Sound good? Click here to start tagging your Photobucket album.

Description fields added today on Photobucket

Tagging's the big feature shipping today -- but there's a whole bunch of other stuff going out today too. For example:

New description fields

Now you can add nice long descriptions to all your photos. So whereas before you had to tell it all in a title, now you've got a description to add as well.

Here's what the new description field looks like:

New feature just for Pro users -- support for high res photos

High res images for Photobucket Pro users

We've increased the maximum image size limit for Photobucket Pro users. It used to be 2MB per image. Now it's 5MB. So if you need to upload super big photos, then upgrade to our Pro service. It's only $25/year or $3/month.

New holiday slideshow styles going out today

So why send a paper greeting, if you can send a slideshow? It's so much greener. We've made some nice new holiday slideshow styles.

Plus, more photos per slideshow

And, to celebrate the hols, we're increasing the number of photos you can put in a slideshow. Used to be just 10. Now it's 25.

If you're a Pro user, you can put up to 50 images in a slideshow.

So make a slideshow, share it out, and spread the love.

Here's the Happy Holidays style. Too early to be thinking about the holidays? Then try some of the others under "new styles."

Photobucket Transforms Online Photo Sharing With Photo Tagging for Sharing Across Social Networks

Leading Photo Site First to Offer Linked Tagging – Enhances Image Search and Discovery

PALO ALTO, Calif., November 8, 2007 – Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com), one of the Web’s most popular hubs for managing personal media, today launched a new breed of photo tagging, giving users the unique ability to share tagged and linked photos across social networks and the Web. Photobucket tagging enables users to tag up to 20 names and links within a single photo, before sharing them online by posting them on personal profile pages, blogs and other sites.

When tagged photos are displayed on Photobucket, embedded onto other sites, or shared by email, viewers of those photos can see the tags, click on links, and also find more images with the same tags on Photobucket’s site. For example, a photo of a school or college group can link each person to individual social network profiles. Alternatively, a photo of landscapes or travel scenes could link to relevant Wikipedia pages or travelogues, giving viewers added insight into the photo’s subject matter.

New Wireless SD Card Supports Photobucket

We got to try out Eye-Fi's new wireless SD card, touted as "the world's first wireless SD memory card for digital cameras."

What does that mean? Well, it's a memory card for your camera. Looks just like any other. But if you have a wireless network at home, you can automatically link the card to your Photobucket album. And whenever you snap a pic with your camera, and you're within range of your network, the photo will upload to your Photobucket album. And you don't have to even take the card out of your camera! We like that!

But what if you take pics when you're out and about? This is the best bit. Just come home, leave your camera on, flop on the sofa, and the Eye-Fi card will upload all your pics to your album. We like that even more!

We think this little card should be right at the top of your holiday wish list! Click here to read more, and to find out where to buy it.
