Release of major new Tagging feature on Photobucket

We're pretty excited about this.  Starting today, you can "tag" any photo on Photobucket.

What's a tag?

It's a word, or group of words, that describes whatever is in your photo. But isn't that just a title? Well, could be, but this goes further:

• You can drag a region of any photo and 'tag' it -- so someone's face, or something in a photo
• You can assign a link to any tag -- so you could link someone's face to their Myspace or Facebook profile
• You can email a friend when they, or something they like, has been tagged in a photo
• Finally, you can post a tagged photo outside Photobucket, and the tags and links go along with it, along with the embedded links you've made

Why tag?

• To organize your albums
• To tell friends about photos in your albums
• To find more photos like those you've tagged in your albums

Well so far, all I notice is that the new services cause the pages to load much more slowly. I liked the old format better. Sorry.

I agree with Nigel. I lost all my titles for my pictures, and I have over 4,000 photos on my account. What happened to them, and can I get them back?

I don't mind the new layout and the new features, but I'm (to put this nicely) ANGRY that all my titles and now default and not what I originally had there.

this will be great, once everyone starts using it. It will help a lot when searching for pics. I have a free acct on this social site with over 2,000 pics, and I'm in Photobucket all the time looking for more

I would sign up for a paid account if it meant that you would stop changing PB so much. It was perfectly fine the way it was A YEAR AGO. And ever since you've been overhauling it constantly, making it worse and worse and worse. It's cluttered, confusing, and it runs poorly due to the huge amount of ads all over it.

now when i try and search for photos, nothing comes up...is the search feature only for searching tags now? and yes, i'm choosing to only search "My albums" and not everyone elses stuff.

now i have hundreds of pictures to go back and tag! what a pain in the a$$

I agree with Nigel. All the titles have moved to the bottom and aren't displayed on the thumbnail view at all ... only the file name which means nothing to my viewers? I don't want to use the tagging feature at this time, I want my titles to show at the top as before. Please put it back.

Word. I used to be able to search my private album based on image title. Now, I can't get any results, and I am NOT going back and tagging every single image. Not that that seems to be working anyway...

I want to be able to turn this feature off and it won't let me - I don't need more clutter on the screen.

And am I the only one who has lost all titles for my pictures ? The system has now defaulted the title to the filename.

Not a great move Photobucket.
