Search in Group Albums Launches Today

Since we launched Group Albums in May of this year, over one-hundred thousand Groups have been created on Photobucket, ranging from weddings and family gatherings, to special interests, charities and rock bands.

Group Albums on Photobucket allow multiple users to upload their photos and videos to one shared photo and video album, with an administrator of the Group providing optional review and approval functions.

Today we are adding a bunch of new features in Group Albums.

Here's a quick summary of the new features.

Search in Groups, Featured Albums, and Most Active Groups

Photobucket You can now search through all the public Groups, and see if there are groups that might interest you.

So search for things like "mullet" or "puppies" or whatever and see what you can find.

You can contribute your own photos and videos to any Group that's set as public.  The owner of the Group may have chosen to qualify your submission before it's visible to the world.

You can also click to see which Group Albums we are featuring today, which are the most active, the most recent, and those with the most individual contributors.

We've added RSS to Search Results on Photobucket

For RSS fans, we are adding the ability to subscribe to RSS feeds of search results. You can already subscribe to RSS feeds from public Photobucket albums.

The link for RSS feeds is on the footer of every Photobucket page.

RSS

So if you have a favorite search term you look for regularly on Photobucket, get the RSS feed into your RSS reader and you'll always see the latest.

Categories in Group Albums Launch Today

Group Album Categories

Group Categories You can also search for Group Albums by category. When you make a Group, you have the choice of adding it to up to three categories.

Browse around categories that interest you and see what you can find.

If you want new categories added, write to us!

Featuring Popular Photos

PALO ALTO, Calif., December 3, 2007 – Photobucket (http://photobucket.com), one of the Web’s most popular hubs for managing personal media, today announced an integration with Digg, the popular social media site that harnesses the collective wisdom of the world’s online audience to prioritize the overwhelming amount of content available on the Web. The integration coincides with the launch of Digg’s dedicated images section later today, giving millions of Photobucket users the ability to “Digg” photos on Photobucket.

Here's a tagged image posted from Photobucket

Here's what a tagged photo looks like when it's embedded on a blog page.  You can use our new "Embed code - to embed with tags" option -- it will show up with tagged images -- to copy the embed code that includes your tags.

Look for the code here next to the photo in your album:

Then, when you embed your tagged into onto your blog, or social network profile, it will show up with tags embedded.

See what a tagged image looks like here. Click on the photo below to see how tags work.

Click on the Golden Gate Bridge part of the photo to see how embedded links work.

Roll over the faces to see names. Click on links below the image to see how tags link to Photobucket.

New "Related Searches" Feature on Photobucket

Now when you find stuff on Photobucket, you have some new choices to find even more that's related.  There are new choices on the right side of the screen that let you find related images, more images from the user who uploaded the image you're looking and, related videos.

For example, check out this screenshot of a search for "gnomes" on Photobucket. When you click on any image you like on Photobucket, you go to the 'full view.' Now you can see an option to look at "related" gnome images; more images from the user who uploaded the image you liked; and, finally, videos that are tagged 'gnomes.'

Photobucket visitors and members conduct millions of searches a day on Photobucket. We hope this new feature will make searching even better.

Release of major new Tagging feature on Photobucket

We're pretty excited about this.  Starting today, you can "tag" any photo on Photobucket.

What's a tag?

It's a word, or group of words, that describes whatever is in your photo. But isn't that just a title? Well, could be, but this goes further:

  • You can drag a region of any photo and 'tag' it -- so someone's face, or something in a photo
  • You can assign a link to any tag -- so you could link someone's face to their Myspace or Facebook profile
  • You can email a friend when they, or something they like, has been tagged in a photo
  • Finally, you can post a tagged photo outside Photobucket, and the tags and links go along with it, along with the embedded links you've made

Sound good? Click here to start tagging your Photobucket album.
